Among the league's backups, only two players, Dru Brown and Taylor Powell, have shown enough potential to be considered for starting roles. Brown, 29, and Powell, 27, are the most promising candidates, but their overall records and age make them less attractive to teams. The league needs to develop future quarterbacks during the final seasons of the current era's greatest quarterbacks. Kaidon Salter and Harrison Frost, two young quarterbacks who played meaningful minutes this past week, have shown flashes of talent but are not yet ready for regular duty. The CFL must carefully consider its options and develop a plan to meet the coming demand for fresh arms at the quarterback position.
